Subtle Shades photo of Katye among the rocks

I’ve met Katye Paquette on Facebook back in November 2010 and ever since then. I’ve always wanted to get her in front of my camera but with her located in Tulsa and myself in Oklahoma City. Our schedules always conflicted. The Eleven 3 Connections group started traveling to nearby cities. Tulsa being one of them.

Subtle Shades Photo of Stefanie Davila in the home studio

We’ve known Stefanie for a long time now…but she has always been seen to us as a makeup artist(MUA). I ran into her at the network shoot a couple of days ago and she was there as a model not a MUA. She has mentioned to me on numerous occasions that she models and would like to work with me…but I never thought about shooting her. {knocks fist to head several times} What was I thinking? I had access to the goddess of Latina descent and never photographed her! Someone please slap me! ….but not too hard..I bruise easily! 🙂

Subtle shades photo of Heather looking hot on mt. scott

As a habit, we try not to shoot at the same location within a short time frame. We believe that frequently shooting in the same location causes us to be complacent and miss creative opportunities. But in this case, we did it anyways. There was a model Heather Harper from Lawton that was interested in working with us but was not available on the 12th of June (see earlier post). So we went ahead and scheduled another shoot at the Wildlife Refuge a week later on the 19th of June. Read the rest of this entry »

Did I mention Heaven? Read the rest of this entry »

This was part 2 for the Eleven 3 Connections, a fun shoot with the always energetic and beautiful Traci Lacek! It started out in the park that was also hosting a wedding this day. Traci had a huge audience! All gazing intently in our direction; obviously wondering who this beautiful model was putting on a modeling clinic??? It ended up at the lake, red mud, classic Oklahoma sunset and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the results! Here are a few pics from (soonerJH) and Subtle Shades Photography.

The pursuit of beauty – Realistic retouch

Subtle Shades Photo of leasle standing in lake enjoying the view

There are plenty of photographers that swear to Photoshop, it is part of their arsenal of editing programs. When used properly, it can enhance the beauty of an image. Then again there are those that hate it. They complain that its fake, it takes away from the image and too many photographer do not know how to use it properly. Both sides have pros and cons. I agree that getting the shot correct in camera is the earmarks of a professional and if you cannot get it correct in camera. You should be working on that instead of correcting images. Getting it correct in camera speeds up post processing and getting images back to the client faster.
